G’day guys and girls,

The missus and I bought this chassis a couple of years back for her to get out in. It was stickered up as a Monaco GP2, but I haven’t since been able to find and info or pictures to back this up, so I thought I’d ask more experienced minds for their opinions.

The main rails are 28mm while the cross bars are 30mm. It has a fourth rail as a permanent part of the chassis, although it can be bolted to the main rail it runs along. It also has a removable front torsion bar. From what I can find, there are similarities in certain parts of the chassis to the Arrow Ax5 28/30.

Any insight you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kevin. I'm very confident what you have is a Monaco GP2 as I also had one for a number of years. They were painted bright red. The similarities you see are actually to that of the AX6 but there was definitely some minor differences in geometries if my memory serves me.

Thanks Adrian. It was bright red when we got it, but I’ve recently repainted it to the grey.

How did you find the chassis when running it?

I may be pushing the friendship here, but you mention some minor geometry differences between the GP2 and AX6, do you happen to remember what they may have been?

Thanks again.

I was only thinking after i replied to you that it was almost 20 years ago i got that kart. Where the hell did that time go?!

I bought the kart new to race junior J heavy. Then once in seniors i continued to in J light. This 28/30 kart came in 2 variations, one with a 101cm wheel base and the 104cm wheel base. For use in J racing, i should have got the 101. A buddy of mine had the 101 and it was a much better kart on the harder tires used then. I had it for a long time. Probably too long.

Like i said, this was 20 years ago. But i think if you were to measure the distance from king pin to king pin there was a difference. I don't think the ax6 had a removable front rail either. (someone else might be able to clarify).

I'm sure there were other differences but i honestly don't remember that much now
