Kartbook

Australian Karting Forum

Hi all,

With the tragedy that has hit QLD at the moment, I was wondering who would be willing to put their hands in their pockets and donate a few bucks to the appeals.

I know it's not much, but being this helpless on the other side of the country, I guess it's the least I could do. If anyone wants to join in, let me know and we can collect and fund / give it straight to the appeals.

Cheers

Luke

Karla,

It may pay to check if you should be taking goods to Toowoomba ..

I was told this afternoon that x5 shipping containers worth of clothes/white goods etc went to Toowoomba only to be brought back, which was a big problem in itself ...

Goods are needed regardless but i think it may be best to take them to the drop i centre were people are sleeping..

Redcross also mentioned they need more $$$ donated than goods at the moment ...

All help is good help though ;)

Hi Ant

Maybe access is the problem, I'm not directly involved in this exercise but would hope that by next week donations should get through...

I do agree with you... all help is good help.

Cheers

Roads to Toowoomba are closed, as are many other roads in SE Qld.  I work closely with Qld Fire & Rescue and at a briefing tonight next week is when volunteers will be needed to assist with clean up, this will be the first task, plenty of goods already in storage, cant send them in till all is cleaned up. See www.volunteeringqld.org.au to sign up to assist, or maybe someone from Toowoomba Kart Club could organise a local working bee.  Very hard to talk to emergency services at present as they and orgs are very busy.  This is suncorp stadium at lunchtime today.
