Plastic sprockets have been around for 15 years or so that I can recall..if they were that good everyone would be using them ,,,what are the majority of karters using .???..we never found an issue with them other than a personal preference was for metal.... therein lies the answer.....
Permalink Reply by Damian Cane on February 24, 2012 at 12:00 A lot of our guys use the nylon ones, as do a lot of other 4 strokes, never had any issues with them at all. A lot of 4 strokes use 35 pitch chain, so its the easy option as metal sprockets on this pitch are hard to find if at all.
No special chains needed and the chains tend to wear out long before the sprockets do.
They do flex though, and you need to use good wide washers to keep them true and not over tighten fastening bolts or they throw the chains. Other than that they are pretty good.
i have been told to stay away from the black ones as they are aparently softer than the white ones
i have used the white ones now back with the 6065 t6 aluminium sprockets
Permalink Reply by Mal Crosher on February 24, 2012 at 14:06 that would be reasonable. Company made black guitar string once and they wore out in n time due to the pigment dye. Same with Pro skaters etc, always use natural urethane coloured wheels .
