New price for Dunlop DDM 5 inch tyres.
To help KZ, KF3 and 200 Super competitors pockets and promote some more Open Racing, Dunlop is offering the DDM CIK 5 inch tyres at $249.00 Recommended Retail for the next 3 months (or while stock lasts).
Pro Karting and Geelong Extreme in Victoria and TD Racing in SA all carry stock.

Hi James
Sorry it's taken so long to reply, but I haven't found anyone that has got info on Vega white. There is nothing else better than the DDM for price wear and performance in Oz so I think it would stack up OK.

Hey Millsy
Good to hear you are in a KZ mate, and on Dunlop's.
The new DDM is an arsume tyre, it has proven its self against the Yellow with no Bulls..t. You no the way Les May operates, if the tyre is not up to scratch, he wont sell it.
As he says, "Happy customers are more important than a $$$"
From our testing and data from Wally, Kel and heap of the KZ guy's expect realistically about 90 - 110 laps out of a set if you are on the pace and your kart is set up OK. KZ karts normally wear rear tyres more than fronts but you dont have to buy sets, Dunlop Kartsport will sell you just fronts or rears, what ever you need.
The main advantage that the DDM gives over and above being the faster tyre is that it has minimal drop off, so you can do the same lap times on lap 80 as you have done on lap 5, so you can do good testing and evaluate set up changes without having to throw new tyres at your kart every 30 laps.
Set up details:
If you have been using Yellows, the DDM has a little more grip.
The Dunlop front tyre is a more square and wider profile which is really good under brakes. (You can use alot more front brake).
Start at straight up and down for camber, if your kart likes positive, some of the CIK guy's are runing up to 6mm a side with no problem, equally I no guy's running 2 -3mm neg so there is a big usable window, depending on your chassis and drive style.
Tyre Pressure: At CIK we recommend to start at about 8.5psi cold to achieve a hot pressure of around 11psi. Talking to Les, he reckons that Todd road will require a higher pressure, especially for HPH with shorter race distances and our colder weather. We reckon to start around 12psi cold and work from there.
With Dunlop open wets the general rule is about 2psi higher than slicks. I have raced a couple of times on the Dunlop KT11 and found that around the 12 - 14psi gives the best result.
Les will be at Todd Road on Sunday if the weather is OK and will be at HPH and CIK with the trailer set up, and as always, will be there to help every one with tech stuff.

All good Shane
Let us know how you go.
The basic theory from our point of view is low pressure - more tyre on the track - more grip, high pressure less contact patch - less overall grip.
The other thing we have had success with is running low front tyre pressure to unload the kart.
Basically think of a table in a coffee shop on uneven ground, every time you lean on the table, it rocks. By running low front tyre pressure, when you turn in the outside front tyre loads up and collapses which takes load off the inside rear and the kart drives through and off the corner better.
This works really good on long radius corners like comming on the straight at Pucka and Dubbo.
For a midget/rookie try 10psi cold in the front and 18 - 19psi in the rear, you will be amazed at the difference in your straight speed.

well i've been running SL1A's way too high, 18-19 on a warm track and 21-22 on a cold track is what i've found to work best (and not go off too quick). I'll have to give lower pressures a try though.

Luke, any data or relevant info on the DDM tyre for KZ2 would be appreciated, I will be testing next week ahead of HHS R.4 at Todd Rd and will be doing CIK also and I'm yet to use this tyre. Also I'd be interested to know what psi you'd recomend for the KT11 Wet Tyre as I had some issue with this in F100 and will again be using it on KZ2. Thanks mate, no rush can either write on here or email jamesmills@hotmail.com.au, Cheers. Millsy.
