Hi all,
What are the risks associated with buying new Fireball engines from the US? Are they the same spec or are there subtle differences?
Here's one example of a Fireball on Ebay asking for $1499, not sure what shipping costs are but other sites are selling them for $1325 + $120 for shipping to Melbourne ($45 if you can wait 2 months for it to float to Melbourne).

its the old style ignition...and i thought that all engines raced in australia had to be australian stamped (ie you're not allowed to use international engines that are not approved by AKA)
Permalink Reply by Michael Hazelton on December 28, 2011 at 15:33 The Fireball parts and homogations are standard accross the world. In Australia you must used "AUS" stamped angines. Theoretically you could use any part that is not stamped in Australia under AKA rules, but why? I would only see benifit in this if you have hand grenaded an engine and are left with perfectly good stamped cases...

Permalink Reply by james on December 28, 2011 at 22:11 I agree Patrick,
and WHY is it we have to pay more for an engine designed by an Aussie, built buy the fushing brothers in Taiwan http://fushing.en.ecplaza.net/ and the Aus dollar is stronger than the US?
and dont say transportation cost because its not, just like it cost IKEA for some of their furniture items made in Taiwan less to ship to Aus than the US, yet we pay more than the US for the item

its just the aka trying to back local shops
Hi Guys you obviously never run a business in Australia, yes you can buy most things cheaper over sea, Can I tell you I do own and operate my own company in Australia and the over heads are much higher in Aust , Starting with Renting factory to wages 17% loading for being on holidays , 9% super, and yes we are closer to Asia but its cheaper to send to USA because of volume not distance, I dont sell karts but where would you be with out good local kart shops, and there suport at the track,
Just my 2 cents worth
