As an addition to Rishi's post, it would be great if some guys with experience would chuck some setup tips like flex length, sprocket etc for the common tracks around NSW like newcastle, wollongong, canberra and lithgow etc

Wollongong:

TAG heavy open, fireball, Arrow X1 chassis, MG reds

Sprocket 79, Max revs 15800

Flex 65mm

mate that is great news for me.. I managed to run 2nd up at Lithgow @ the January meet, carrying 10/80 (granted a few of the fast guys weren't there)... but knowing i can keep going down in teeth to almost 71 is a massive breakthrough and gives me a heap of confidence i can catch the usual front runners.. Also, i'm hoping to race at e/creek next week and having not driven and also not getting a chance to test on the new track (or even ever run the fireball there), i'm thinking 10/71 might be a good starting point..

I've only got the standard flex that comes with the package, which i suppose makes quite a difference.. but starting to get an idea from all this!

Thanks heaps.

Thats good Wayne, keep it up.

The standard flex is 85mm. I would get another flex (either the 65mm or 85mm that are available from st george / CRG) and join them by hammering the small section into the others large section. This will give you around a 120mm flex which is perfect for running the ultra low gearing.

Good luck.

so have you actually run 120mm flex before? seems massive haha....and what about circuits like EC- would we run flex at 65 or should we keep it at 85?

I have tested up to 160mm. If you can think of it, chances are I tested it all ready. There is a reason why my Fireballs are the fstest.

If you can learn anything from these posts, be it that there is no majic numbers, only magic combinations!

Hey all,

Anyone been to Manning Valley? What's it like?  I'm thinking of racing there this coming weekend in TAG-R Light. I've never been there before, so any track tips and especially a gearing suggestion for the Fireball would be much appreciated...

10/72-74 in TAG-R Light with Fireball.

If they are running anti-clockwise then I was there for the TAG Super Series. The only real tricky section to get right is the left hairpin into the right horseshoe. Its easy to use more road for the hairpin only to not have enough road for the horseshoe! The rest of the track is just hitting your turn in and apex's and you will be ok. Oh and dont miss the turn in point for T1 down the hill, there is lots of grass down there...

Thanks Michael..
