Australian Karting Forum

Hi All,

I am tired of turning laps on my own so I thought I would see if there is any interest in an online championship. I was thinking that once a month from February to December, either the first Wednesday or Sunday Night would be OK but am open to other nights except Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (sorry). I can also make up a prize for the series winner (thinking a t-shirt with an iron-on transfer or maybe a small trophy).

The equipment used will be a P4 3.0 Ghz HT with 1.25GB RAM as the host server running on an Optus cable connection so stability and bandwidth should be fine.

If there is enough interest, I will start a sign-up thread in this group with all the tracks/layouts, times, etc as well as a custom skin submission (if you have one).

Let me know your thoughts and ask your friends. At 22 Euro to buy the game (approx $28), it's a cheap practice tool and should be fun.

Thanks

Jamie

wow this is a great idea! i havn't been able to race against anyone else either in KRP. I'd be up for this i'd have to think. my only suggestion would be to shorten the season so that instead of once a month, go once a week at like the same time on the same day, that way people will stay interested for the whole season. Also, try putting this up for discussion on the KRP forums, as many aussies racers are on there, but not on here :)

I know there is still issues withthe netcode but I am keen to give it a good test for myself. Should be fun if nothing else. I will post a message tomorrow on the KRP forums and see what interest there is. Will have to test a large array of tracks too, what a shame :).

I am thinking that once a month but I may be able to run fortnightly if required. I am currently racing in an rFactor league as well and can't spend too much time on the computer (except for work).

If interest and participation is good, I may run a second series but will set up a league with dedicated website, forums, set rules, etc. I'll try to find a better game server too if required.

It'll be good to see you on track if it gets up and going

Just an update on the hardware for the dedicated server, I have just aquired a couple of dual Xeon 2.66Ghz servers. Just trying to track down some U320 SCSI Hard Drives but the processing capability will be more than enough to rival most dedicated game servers.

Hopefully we can get the numbers together for a fun series

Beta 5 has been released and now includes an evolving track. As karts run on line, the track rubbers in and even has a drying line for the races where the rain stops. The physics have been tweaked as well and the online play has been greatly improved. There is even a new 4 stroke FS250 kart which is a lot of fun to drive. The public content has grown significantly and there are quite a few tracks and skins available. There's even an Aussie track. Tawoomba makes an appearance and it's a fun track to drive on

I am looking at setting up a server for a racing series this year and need some testers to work out any possible kinks before round 1 in Feb. Am looking at Wednesday the 18th at this stage(around 7pm Sydney time [GMT +11????]) and everyone is welcome.

Test Day went well tonight after a few hardware issues on my end. I am planning to do the same on Wednesday night at 7pm (Sydney time) so if you have the game and are keen, come and join us.

The big servers were too noisy to use but I have another machine that is more than capable. Tonights test ran on my laptop and I will keep it setup on the laptop as a backup (just in case).

Planning to run Toowoomba on Wednesday so get the track downloaded and join the fun.

Get the track here

Planned format: 1 session Dry and the second session will be Wet for something different.
