I run tag restricted light, and have my first race this weekend. I'm running a 10 front and 79 rear sprocket, but I can't seem to get the kart past about 14400rpm. I know driving plays a big part,…Continue

What's the deal with these two series, is the country series considered better, or is there a reason it seems to sound more important than the golden power series? It seems strange that the country…Continue

Recently joined up at Oakleigh, and I haven't yet driven any other tracks, but I'm wondering what track people like the most, and why, and which track would be hardest to master/ most challenging,…Continue

"Nah fair enough, I'm not too proud to admit my driving could be better. Oakleigh is a very technical track, I'm told one of the harder ones to master. I just wanted to make sure my gearing was the same/ similar to my competitors. Thanks"

"When i did run restricted medium on a rotax evo i had it at 89 teeth ( if my memory is correct), but that's drastically different to an X30, so where you're at in terms of gearing and for restricted light seems about right, could be in…"

"I do think think the carb settings are wrong, it runs great. What sprockets do you run?"

"Thanks Justin. That's a good explanation. I can understand the attraction of not having to rush there on a Saturday, especially given the distance they usually are"

Justin Malcolm replied to Cam's discussion Vic country series vs golden power series
"Cam The biggest difference between the two series is that VCS is a one day event and the GPS is a two day event. VCS have Saturday as practice and racing on Sunday only. This allows people to actually turn up leisurely on a Saturday and practice or…"

"But if your new to the sport and already looking at new tracks to race that's a great start, i only drove one track (GKCV) for a year and a half! and went from having raced one track to seven, eight after this weekend down at swan hill.…"

"yeah look I've had a taste of the country series and now that I've moved up to TAG from restricted I'll probably try the power series and next year I'm gonna try the VIC state titles, really you have to give everything a shot…"

"Thanks fellas, I'm new to the sport (spectated for a while before trading my two wheels for four), and I would only enter either for the experience and variety of different tracks. I certainly wouldn't be expecting great results. The power…"

"Found both to be as good as each other. Depends I suppose on where you live as to which series you would do. Power was " closer" to do all tracks where country was more travel involved for us."

"I raced the country series this year, personally i used it as an experience to help better my driver skill, adaptability and kart tuning ability, only being my second year of karting. Overall it changed my driving style and outlook on kart set up.…"

"Racing at a Todd Road club day "Up the hill" is a must. Doing close to 100km/h up the hill, into a blind crest ......... i nearly pooped my pants every lap. You can hear the engine rev as you rear wheels lift off the ground."
