Currently building a mac munching Victa....well give them a run anyway! Still looking for suitable frame.

Ahh have the frame now just need more time to get into it. Still need front wheels to complement the 4" Olympics on the back or turn them into front ones and get new rears.

At last I can say the modified foundry pattern (the first one was no good) was delivered to the foundry today and they will do some trials and come up with a price for each casting. Then the machining price and then the sell price. This has been a very expensive exercise for me and I do appreciate your generous patients.

Good question Mike. I have been meaning to ring the foundry and find out how they are going. Because the pattern is at the foundry I can't measure the diameter for you. If its any help, the picture that advertises the up coming Tamworth meeting has a picture of the same head so you can get a fair idea from that.

Mark.

Hi Mike, Not sure about era correctness, Maybe ask Chippo or I'll ask around. There were a lot of ribbed tyres used on early karts but those are probably shot anyway. Its a bit hard to see if the rims are bolt together type, What size are the rears on your kart?

Hi Mike

Just asking? I grew up with a Mike Burrell.

I brought my Kart in the mid 70’s It had a 160cc 0n it and was very old then, we, my brother and I ran it around the Branxton oval and all over the paddocks etc: My daughter at the age of 10 asked if she could have a go? And that is when I restored it, found the head and megaphone, sourced a Carby and got it up and running, I then took it to Coffs Harbour to meet Mervin and Russel hearing that they sometimes displayed their old karts at the over 40’s meeting. And this is where the VHKA started with

Mervin as President and myself as secretary, it was slow beginnings but am pleased it has become something a lot of people enjoy, again good to hear that you are working on a Victa, as there has been a increase in Victa following.

I don’t use the Reads on the Kart any more as I have had to use them and another kart that I helped restore, and I am using a battery and car coil as ignition and is VERRY reliable and has seen MANNY demonstration runs.

All the Best

Just wondering if you are the same Mike that lived near Branxton in the 70's and early 80's?
