"Thats right, When i got into karting i saw people starting RL's with external starter motors. This was around 2007. I had no idea they also reved that high with the past ignition style. IAME deffinately makes a tough engine! "

"I had more than 18months from my RL starter motor in restricted. If i am correct there was a faulty batch of starter motors supplied to IAME that were fitted to the X30's that were replaced by Remo. Perhaps your engine had one of…"

"Good on you Daniel  :) :)   IMO ?   The X30 is a superior motor (as you would expect it to be)   But the RL is  a good performer as well. If your new to the sport ( I mean anyon ! )and in training, the RL can be picked…"

"So if the RL starter lasted for 3 race meets and the X30 lasted 6 meets its 100% more reliable ...yes? ...:) The RL starters got a bad reputation because we were all reving them to 17k and beyond. We also cracked a couple of chassis because of the…"

"I understand what you're saying. But to say the starter motor brushes are 100% more reliable, well then, they should not break at all. Thats all I meant. Perhaps the statement should be "The starter motor brushes are ALOT more…"
