In the industry

The class(es) I race:
Leopard Light
My best results:
2nd Nationals 1998: 200cc Super
1st Vic open 1986: Junior International
1st Vic open 1993: 200cc Super
Forgotten the others, but did throw more than 150 trophies in the bin.
And people should also know:
Started racing in Rookies in 1979 at Geelong, first kart was a Benson with plastic wheels. Moved up to Sub Juniors and then into Junior International (Reed and Rotary engines), by 1985 consistantly running in the top 3 in the Country. Moved up to Seniors in 1986, first Senior race was 1986 Nationals Geelong in International Light, said to be one of the best fields ever in Australia, Drew Price, Russell Ingall, John Pizzaro, Howard Heath, Robert Hunter, Anthony Bartolo the list goes on and on, around 50 0f us actually, I finished 6th in the end with the winner being John Baxter.
Raced in various classes around Victoria from Senior Nat to 200cc Super and every class in between, Raced at all National and International events held in Australia during the 80's and early 90's. Ran at more than a dozen Nationals with the Green plate eluding me throughout my 20 year career.
My Father was a top engine builder and we had a Kart shop for many years. I built and raced my own karts with a State Championship and a 2nd at a National Championship plus other top 3 finishes at State and National Championships with other drivers.
Finished my career with many years in 200cc Super, such a fantastic class that should never have been dropped.
The buz of a 200 on Qualifying tyres at a Championship, hop on, hang on and grit your teeth.
I am very lucky to have began my career in the days of home made karts through to the modern era of side pods and nose cones. I have raced for various brands in my career from Swiss Hutless to Tony Kart and many in between.

Hi Raymond.

I have seen a picture of your work shop and I notice a Zip rear bumper bar on the bottom shelf do you still have it and would you be interested in selling it to me?

Regards

Chris Barnes

Hi Raymond,

Whats the go with pit parking and display at Ipswich? We will be bringing the big trailer and will be in a big tent with Powlsey, i assume there will be room for the trailer behind the tent.

We are organising our display and will have all our karts together in this tent, i see the pit layout has lots of different areas for display & race. Will this be a problem.

Are the entries done by karts or by drivers?

Cheers

Rod.

G'day Raymond,

Ipswich is a definite maybe. We really want to be there but it will depend on a few things first, so I'm hoping everything works out and we can be there. It is going to a huge event. We are going to Numurkah so we'll see you there.

Regards,

John

Hi Raymond,

I can really say at this stage, we are a maybe!  my work is out of control at present spending a lot of time O/S so we will have to see, I am hoping to have some front brakes on by then, guessing you will need them there. I have had a total rebuild of my twin and have built a new single that seems quite good. We are running this weekend at Morwell , will be my first run in the twin since Numurkah, so I am hoping the weather is kind.

At this stage I am not entering any where , until it gets closer as I am not sure where I will be.

I am off the France next week hoping to look at some old karting stuff whilst I am there.

Ok thats what i thought. My question was really "if it is log booked then its in?" so thanks.

I am looking forward to running Ippy with a monster. Great high speed track will suit my driving style. Just worried about the hairpins and no front brakes...

OK then, I will prep it for a shakedown at Numurkah then.

Are the rules the same as our rules? Is that illegal Demon of Robo's going to be there? I just want to know if i can run the ibea 3 jet butterflies or not?

Also is there going to be a rubber restriction or anything goes?

Great work Ray!

I will be working on the DAP soon. Wont be pretty like a Harrison kart, but it will be fast :)

Does it have to be a total DAP twin? If the engines are quick enough I was thinking of running my two bullet TT75 parilla's

Hi Ray,

I am thinking of running the DAP Grand Prix in my DAP GP twin with a T91 and T70 combo. I will keep you posted mate
