My involvement in karting:
In the industry
My race number:
Past, 56, 3, 14
The class(es) I race:
Leopard Light
My best results:
2nd Nationals 1998: 200cc Super
1st Vic open 1986: Junior International
1st Vic open 1993: 200cc Super
Forgotten the others, but did throw more than 150 trophies in the bin.
And people should also know:
Started racing in Rookies in 1979 at Geelong, first kart was a Benson with plastic wheels. Moved up to Sub Juniors and then into Junior International (Reed and Rotary engines), by 1985 consistantly running in the top 3 in the Country. Moved up to Seniors in 1986, first Senior race was 1986 Nationals Geelong in International Light, said to be one of the best fields ever in Australia, Drew Price, Russell Ingall, John Pizzaro, Howard Heath, Robert Hunter, Anthony Bartolo the list goes on and on, around 50 0f us actually, I finished 6th in the end with the winner being John Baxter.
Raced in various classes around Victoria from Senior Nat to 200cc Super and every class in between, Raced at all National and International events held in Australia during the 80's and early 90's. Ran at more than a dozen Nationals with the Green plate eluding me throughout my 20 year career.
My Father was a top engine builder and we had a Kart shop for many years. I built and raced my own karts with a State Championship and a 2nd at a National Championship plus other top 3 finishes at State and National Championships with other drivers.
Finished my career with many years in 200cc Super, such a fantastic class that should never have been dropped.
The buz of a 200 on Qualifying tyres at a Championship, hop on, hang on and grit your teeth.
I am very lucky to have began my career in the days of home made karts through to the modern era of side pods and nose cones. I have raced for various brands in my career from Swiss Hutless to Tony Kart and many in between.

Hi Raymond,

Thats awesome news that I have an old motor of yours. I`ve always been impressed with it`s performance, it certainly makes my Kali on SL1`s fun to drive.

I`ve had no trouble with it at all, reliable & always easy to start.

The bore size now is 51.98 & the cylinder has been machined to suit a Yamaha KT100A piston which I have just replaced & will run it in at Warwick on the 10th.

If I decide to part with it one day, you will certainly have the 1st offer on it mate.

Cheers

Hi Raymond,
It`s a K55 which I purchased off AGS in Melbourne in 2010. Also on the fins at the exhaust side it has D.P.E engraved on it.
There has been a bit of a discussion as to whether it is Drew Price Eng` or possibly even Darcy Peck which I was told he sometimes used these letters. They are seperated by full stops, which I believe is something Drew Price doesn`t use.
If you could shed a bit more light on this it would be great.
Lindsay.

Hi Raymond,
Spot on Kart is an early Demon with a fairly modified rear end, Engines are PK101 Petry's, been building for about a year. Dad and Robert are fine and we will take about 5 karts to the Numurkah Meeting in November 1x Twin,1x 130 ,2x100 inter and 1 x Era 3 kart. The Birel that Brian built and raced for the 86nationals is in Tassie, we tryed to buy it not so long ago , but it wasn' to be it has Yamahas on it now. If you build one , it just needs to comply with one of the Eras for Vintage Karting, Our twin is Era 4 1980 -1988 post side pods -Classic, so the chassis and engines must be within that Era. I drove Marlene Deans twin not so long ago, twin Rotax engines on Methanol (A beast) loved it! I will run in the petry's in a about a week, so I cant wait for that. Both Robert and I have 100 inters that are pretty quick. Robert has a Birel/ Komet 130 on alky that is also starting to boogie. love the Vintage stuff.
