Hello,Just recently it has come to my attention that in order to race a dd2 kart, or even practice in it on your own on AKA tracks you must have at least a B grade licence(or is it A?). In my opinion…Continue

Fair call would be good if there was an avenue to try things out in a safe environment would help out with knowing what to get aswell.

"  all you have to do is race" That's a sticking point as this attitude is what has cost heavily. some people have a local track and recreational kart with mates. Same as your sports bike, you have many occasions to go to…

I just started karting again after a break. The only karting i had really done before was mainly practice with only two races in clubman heavy as a teenager(had to stop due to lack of funds). I finished both previous races. Then coming back found…

Yes I would feel a little worried and drive it with a level of caution. You know as well as I do that there are other people out there that do not share the same level of care for others. If you firmly believe that anyone could buy one and go out…

re " You also didn't answer my question, do you think that the example I gave previous should be allowed?" no of course not, I never said that behaviour should be allowed. Where did I say it should be ? Any example you have…

Fair enough, curious to know what track it was, or if you dont want to say, given its north of my border is it North or South Queensland?

Lennie short answer no, it was a race track north of your border. Mal, I do not understand the intricacies of running a gearbox kart. I also would like to think that the people running them do have a clue of a) maintenance and b) proper driving…

Glad you posted that clip dude. That's a rolling start. Here and everywhere else in the world Gearbox is strictly standing. Only time rolling happens here with Gearbox is when combined with non gearbox in OP classes. Which proves my point that…

Was this down Melbourne way in a CR with a CRS engine? He sounds like the guy that bought my kart when I upgraded to the BRM and the Pavesi's lol.

The thing is every case should be handled on merrit. Again I will say, this should be up to the indervidual club to control on an indervidual basis and there for people will then be allowed to drive what their capabilities allow rather than…

That is my exact point. People are getting onto this sport with no real idea of the things they are buying. An example I saw one day: Man appears at track one day with gearbox kart. No trolley, minimal toolbox and no clue to the racetrack. Pays…

But what you dont seem to understand as I have pointed out, you can not protect anyone from an Idiot or an Idiot from them selves nomatter what rules you put in place. The Govenment has not yet worked this out, nor has the AKA.

Well I applaud the drivers involved. Here is the flipside: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz-ry36F5KQ take note of the 33 second mark. I do believe our license system has flaws but the rules are there with the intention of protecting people.
