Simon Lewinson replied to Brendan Stacey's discussion Cracks on Brake Disc
"Actually, the holes in the disc aid in dispersing the gas build up when the pads approach fade. The holes also allow water to escape from between the pad and the disc, improving braking in wet conditions. The grooving that you see on the surface of…"

Simon Lewinson replied to Brendan Stacey's discussion Cracks on Brake Disc
"No, suddenly there is a huge bang and you have no brakes. Seriously, do not try to race with this disc, you will damage the kart or yourself."

Simon Lewinson replied to Brendan Stacey's discussion Remove bearing from carrier
"Try using a big screwdriver in the slot - tap it in very gently to open up the slot and the bearing will become loose. Rotate it as described and remove it."

Simon Lewinson replied to Brendan Stacey's discussion Cracks on Brake Disc
"Agree totally. If the disc ruptures I would not want to be anywhere near it. If you lose a chunk it could lock up the back axle and damage the caliper and mounts."
